“I stood alone, on the cliff. The rising sun lifting me to new heights. Three Eagles screeched as they soared directly overhead. I felt deeply empowered, and even more deeply challenged. Transformed by Vision – Empowered by Purpose.”
Hey mate,
Nine years ago this weekend, I was on a Vision Quest that changed my entire life.
It was the week of the 4th of July. I had made an appointment with “the divine”. Two solid days alone, on an isolated cliff ledge just a little bigger than my body. Alone, facing a beautiful mountain range, bigger than almost anything I could imagine.
Just me, 4 gallons of water, a notebook, and “the big guy”.
And an elder to help me “take my vision to the people”, but that’s another story…
“Some people actually thought I was crazy.”
Others to this day tell me they wish they could do what I did.
Here’s a hint, all it takes is a commitment, and a willingness to abandon the ruts, routines and responsibilities that you hold sacred.
I had made a commitment. I had chosen to leave my ruts, routines and responsibilities behind, and for 2 days, sit and be still, and have an experience of “me” and “my world” at a new level.
I would experience a shift that was not just for that weekend, but one that would grow within forever.
On the other hand…
So why do we crave holidays? And why do they never seem to fulfill us?
It seems to me that we crave holidays to escape those sacred ruts, routines, and responsibilites of our daily lives. But unlike “the Vision Quest”, holidays aren’t appointments with the divine. They aren’t used to “go deeper”, or to “discover purpose”.
Holidays aren’t used to discover what we are here to be, to give, to become.
I invite you to ponder this message deeply, take it in, and let it move you.
I invite you to Quest for Vision.
I invite you to Live for Purpose.
I invite you to Do What You are Designed to do.
Your letters and comments are welcomed.

Hi Twenty,
Every time I read something you write about vision questing I’m drawn to it. As you know I’ve never done a formal vision quest but I can’t help but feel that I regularly do little vision quests, most likely as a result of my ongoing training with you. More presence and space in the moment and for possibility.
Love the articles here.
Tom
