How to get taken hostage. By Mr. Twenty Twenty

Hey mate,

Today, October 26, 1989 – just 19 years ago, I discovered myself being taken hostage.   It wasn’t a gentle experience.  It was a cosmic wake up call.  If you are interested, I would love to share with you the most valuable lesson I can today, on my 19th anniversary of being a human piniata.

“Anytime you settle on survival, you are hostage!”

I look around, most people are settling on surviving.

They survive the work day, doing only what they need to do not to get fired.

They survive their relationships by either bullying their spouse constantly or by doing anything not to make waves.

They survive their “down time” by watching reruns, news, and finding people go giggle about the reruns with or complain to about the news.

Look around and NOTICE.   Ask yourself once or twice if this could be YOU?

The alternative to being a hostage is being a FREEMAN – a TRIBE member who REALLY LIVES, contributes to the lives of those around him, and enjoys the GIFT of life.

Think about this:

Instead of settling on surviving, expand into excellence.   Choose something in life worth becoming the best you can possibly be at.  Something that makes a difference.

Instead of surviving the work day, trading your time for dollars, start TODAY bulding a lifestyle where you can do what you love, in a way that benefits people, in a way that they can pay you, so everyday you are passionate, curious, brilliantly blessed and alive.   This isn’t impossible, it’s just RARE to see, or to find good role models for.

Instead of surviving your downtime watching reruns, news and gossiping, do something everyday that you are passionate about, meet new people, take a risk, cook a new meal, try out a new restaraunt, do something, anything that RE-CREATES you.   RE-CREATION is what recreation is all about.

Back to being a hostage.   Been there, done that.  Not just at SCI Camp Hill Prision in 1989, but many times since.   Everytime, learning about me, learning about the programming I had that literally helped me settle for survival, instead of going for the gold.

Today, I go for the gold.  Period.  I even changed my name to remind me every moment that I am here LIVING MY VISION (20/20 The Number of Perfect Vision is my name).  I chose this name so I could remind others to LIVE THEIR VISION, because if you live your vision, you just might inspire others to do the same.

If enough people start living their vision, doing what I share in this tiny post, maybe their will never be the need for another prison riot anywhere.  Maybe our kids won’t settle for surviving.  Maybe just one person will stay off drugs.  Maybe, we will all be amazed by the differences we make.  If we choose to live our visions, go for the gold, and to be what makes a difference.

Hugs, love, and whooo yah to you,

Mr. Twenty Twenty

  1. It seems that sometimes it takes a tragic event for a person to find their true voice. As you said, the world is surrounded by people living as hostages bound by limitations self imposed and by others.
It takes true courage to walk out into the light and make a stand for who you really are. You have done beyond that, guiding people to find their own true self. I am glad to call you friend, glad to see your vision and glad I am part of your tribe.

    Love, hugs and kisses, MJ

  2. The more I learn about the Camp Hill Prison Riots, the more I admire how far you’ve come. Seems like every time I turn around you’re saying or doing something that makes me sit back and say, “WOW!”

This is going up on my wall of quotes today: “start TODAY bulding a lifestyle where you can do what you love, in a way that benefits people, in a way that they can pay you, so everyday you are passionate, curious, brilliantly blessed and alive.”

    You ROCK!

  3. Twenty,
Your ability in the field of inspiration for transformation is without par. For you to take an event which for most would have been a life-crippler and to turn it in to a life changer…well, that’s the secret to your vision and success.

    You inspire me, Twenty!

    Buz
