Tribe Building, Variables, and Peanut Butter by Twenty Twenty

Hey mate,

Here is the answer, “It’s all about life style.”  (You’ll discover the question in just a moment.)

Style of life.   I’m not talking flashy cars here, I’m talking about three diamonds in the rough.

  • Willingness to lead, but not manage.
  • Willingness to be responsible, but not having to be in control.
  • And making peanut butter for Carol.

Since I quit 3 weeks ago (see earlier post on this blog), I’ve made lots of discoveries.  Discoveries that will continue to open doors, reduce stress, and increase happiness and productivity in my life.

The first discovery is that I am building a tribe. A tribe is a group of people, with a shared purpose for existing, who’s members can communicate with one another.   This is different than just managing a group or marketing to a group, Leading a Tribe involves me growing in a way that people want to follow what I am doing.

My tribe is full of people who want more in life, more heart, soul, stuff, success, and integrity.  It’s a tribe full of people who have been on The Jumping Mouse Journey, and who are on their way back home.  People who want more success, and more depth, who aren’t willing to sacrifice either anymore.

Many of the tribe members take my courses, and buy my products, it’s just part of what they have in common, and they also tend to come together and become like family.  There are some really cool benefits to this.  One of their gathering spots on the net is here:  The Science Of Excellence.  Like many tribes, they have bits and pieces of their own tribal language, they have some inside jokes, and they welcome new folks as guests and tribe members who are willing to show up and share themselves.

The second discovery I’ve made since quitting is that many people don’t realize they are the biggest variable in their life. Here’s what I mean.  Being the biggest variable in your life, means that you have the most influence over what happens to you.   You make choices.   Those choices change lives, including yours.  Like my choice to write this today, it’s an expression of me being the biggest variable in my life, but I am not the only variable in my life.  (In other words, poop sometimes happens.)

Being a variable helps us to remember, to be responsible, yet take it easy on yourself.  We all make decisions when we aren’t in the best mental or physical condition sometimes, or we make decisions on limited data, and those decisions can lead to having a good decent regret.   That’s okay…   You are just the biggest variable in your life, have a decent regret once in a while.  It helps build capacity for compassion and authentic rapport.

The third discovery, Carol likes my home made peanut butter. “It takes like real peanuts.”  Lifestyle.  It’s not being able to brag about buying the best peanut butter in the world.  It’s being able to take the time to make your own and share that with someone you love.

Now what can you do with that this weekend?  The answer is lifestyle.
