Hey mate,
Carol and I are heading to the woods for a couple of days here in Pennsylvania.
It’s a balanced trip. (Quick Crass Commercial message in the next paragraph!)
In part it getting ready for our most transformative event of the year, Scout Camp 2008 – Click here for details. Make sure you check out the photos. There are 2 or 3 seats left. This event takes most people totally out of their “box”, in a nice comfortable way, and gives them a chance…
Hold that thought….
In another way, our little woods trip, to our comfy scout cabins are just a time for both of us to check out, so we can check in with each other in new ways. Keep going!
I think you’ll giggle and enjoy this side note:
I just read about a study that showed when corporations send “teams” out to conferences, that are held in boardrooms and office buildings, conferences designed to develop teamwork, that almost nothing comes of those meetings… because they are in the same environment as the home office. Duh! Wake up buckwheat!
I just giggle, because moving an office team across country, to sit in different rooms, and to do exercises to develop teamwork just doesn’t make sense to me…
Same people, same environment, same clothing, same… just some silly hypothetical exercises… and people get paid big money for THAT.

You’ve got to do THREE things…. to experience REAL CHANGE…
1. CHANGE the ENVIRONMENT, make it REAL. (Nature sounds good to me. More oxygen, more REAL stuff to notice, more opportunities to wake up.)
2. CHANGE the FOCUS, to something more real. (You would be amazed what you can learn about the REAL you, while learning some REAL ancient Indian skills. Simple survival skills open the door to noticing your spirit side.)
3. CHANGE your mind by EXPERIENCING REALITY. Hint: you don’t change your mind by “thinking about things” differently. You change your mind by having EXPERIENCES that give you insights, and develop your strengths.
Onward!
Consider the farce of marriage counseling…. Instead of a couple being in a room, in front of their kids and friends and having communication problems, they are going to go have communication problems in front of a counselor, in a room, and pay big buckos.
Hold that in mind, you’re gonna love this!
So… people ask me how do Carol and I have such an amazing relationship. They tell us this all the time. And we’ve been married for 7 years. And we’ve had some amazing challenges. And we even work now at home together.
How do we have such a cool relationship? Carol and I are always exploring. Exploring who we each are, who we are as a couple becoming, what’s going on around us, exploring how else can we think about things, exploring what else can we notice, exploring how can we be more true to our inspirations… and so on and so on and so on.
And I’ll give credit to something most people would never suspect.
“The Apache Scouts Saved My Marriage!”
Someday, that will be the headline, that so many people give credit to.
Because the Scouts, who I learned extensively from after my hostage incident, were EXPLORERS.
Side note: I go NUTS when I hear kids tell me they are board. Kids defined as anyone under the age of 42. My current age. I can’t imagine being bored…..
Back to our program!
Carol and I are infinitely curious. The Scouts were so darn scientifically and infinitely curious… they had to be… the survival of the tribe depended on them being in harmony, at peace, being invisible, being the last to pick up the lance, and being able to… live life to the fullest.
So…

And do whatever it takes, TODAY, to exercise your curiousity.
