Expanding Happiness – Businessmen and Junkies – by Twenty Twenty
What if your purpose was expanding happiness? The the pursuit of something you think will make you happy. It’s about going way beyond being a junkie or a business man.
Hey mates,
One night years ago, we played a game around the camp fire exploring, “Your purpose is happiness”. While it was fun, it also felt a tiny bit scary at times, they way he led the talking and playing opened up us in so many cool ways.
Think the feeling and flow of our previous Curious Calls – around a camp fire.
There is a flirting. Not a flirting of “you with them”, but a flirting with who you can possibly become in the next moment and how free you can be.
We notice when people are “expanding” they are truly happy. Simon’s Scout Camp adventure was all about expanding and being truly happy. The two just seem to go hand in hand, like me and Carol.
Being truly happy is much deeper than “having a good time”. Having a good time can feel similar, but it doesn’t have the invitation of expansion.
After you read the article, check out the video of Simon below. Being truly happy is way beyond “a good time”. Tons of very apparent expansion, that is very visible – while being almost indescribable.
Yesterday during the day, I was in the woods with Scout Kenny. We shared lots of truly happy moments. We weren’t just “feeling good” or “having a good time”, but we were sharing what builds truly happy moments.
“Truly happy” is the deep part of what it seems that all the junkies are seeking. While doing “anything to feel good” and working way to hard to get what it takes to “have a good time” are what they settle for.
What they are settling for is shallow in both quality and effect.
They haven’t made the distinction necessary that are needed around “truly happy”.
Truly happy is not just a mindset or a mantra, it involves making the distinction to notice some very subtle and powerful differences.
Noticing more is so key to really living life, and being truly happy. Just like how we were noticing in the woods, many subtle differences in a track made by an alert happy human, or a track made by a human lost inside.
People who are lost inside, we call junkies, and there are the obvious ones and there are not so obvious ones. Some junkies shoot heroin, others find really stupid shit to keep themselves distracted, busy, hopeful…. hopeless. We call them businessmen.
All of them have some anger / resentment / fear down inside…. And much of the time they will do anything other than… building distinctions, so expansion can occur, and they can start being truly happy.
Being a typical junkie or businessman, is like being very demanding of themselves and the universe…. compared to the true happiness that shows up around being inviting.
NOTE: If the written word here has touched something in you, or touched something off in you, then join us for some live exploration and play. Live play is so much more, than just reading words.
If reading words can touch your life, then playing live can transform you.
Our next Curious Call is all about this, and more.
Join us on the next Curious Call. We’ll be exploring Distinctions, Expansion and The Invitation.
Curious Calls are every Wednesday at 5:00 Eastern. The call is $10 and includes the download of the recording of it.
